Do you love the color red in your interiors?
Many of us love the color red for many reasons. Red is a command color. It is used to draw attention. We see red in our everyday lives. We see a red stop sign, and we know to stop. We see a red danger sign, and we know not to proceed. We see a red light, and we go into alert mode. Red is strong and powerful. But when its used in an interior, we need to be deliberate and use it for a specific purpose.
So how can we use red in our interiors? I like to use red sparingly. What do I mean? I use the color red with a strategic purpose to create an accent and drama to an area. I like to place a red vase, or a red chair in a design-dead spot, a corner that has no architectural elements of interest.
Sometimes I will use red in an area of a room that may not be receiving adequate lighting. I also enjoy using red for a pop of color to make a statement when my main and complementary colors allow me to. I love using red in restraint.
How do you use red in your interiors? What is the popping red element in your living space?
