Momentum
Another week has passed and the project continues to keep the momentum. Walls are all painted. The glass walls and doors are all up. The majority of the furniture is in place and my clients have moved into their new beautiful office. I am happy to see the smiles on their faces.
Still with three quarters of the hard work behind us, there are items that still need to be completed. So this week we gathered to create a punch list for items and task that still need to be completed.
When I arrived, the contractor had some bad news: The blinds that were going to be used from the last occupants were tossed by mistake. However, the good news that followed is that they are going to be replaced with new ones at no cost to my client. How nice is that?!
Design Lesson: Don't sweat the uncontrollables, but control what you can.
The graphics bearing my client's names and logo, still have to be placed on the walls. My graphic artist had to change printing venues because of printing quality and time issues. But momentum continues.
Design Lesson: Plan accordingly for the needs of each specific job. Have a backup plan for when events deviate from the intended plan.
As this week comes to an end. I reflected on how far we have come in this project. The thoughts caused me to smile. Several weeks ago this space had no walls and no floor coverings. The team and I kept the momentum to make this project a success; and the clients continue to be pleased.
What's Ahead
Next week the translucent film will be applied to the glass doors and walls to add privacy to the conference room and office areas. The additional millwork will be added to the paralegal area and reception desk. And yes more furniture is on its way.
Stay tuned...
